THE LIGHT WASH FACTORY 2: 23 PM

IMG_4567   Ever since I scored this three button unconstructed jacket from Tommy Hilfiger, I have been hunting for the perfect light wash denim to complement them for my advanced jay Leno look. Nothing says I am about to have a swell weekend like a pair of light wash denim. These heaven-sent denim pants are from faded glory, I know, that’s the last brand I expected this gift to come from. The weight of these denim pants are really light they feel like one of my tuxedo pants, with that I have had them tailored extra slim for a sharper feel, and I totally love the outcome.

FROM A WARDROBE IN THE SUN

IMG_3798 Before i had any knowledge in suit fabrics, I found the thought incorporating waist coats into my wardrobe quite absurd, considering the fact I live in the tropics where it’s humid all year long. I have encountered a lot of gentlemen who share this ignorant view and i believe it’s mainly due to their little or no knowledge in the types of fabric that exist. Most men on a good day will not go past the color and fit of a suit, which usually leads to bad-buys, and the inability to distinguish the appropriating suiting for different seasons. For example , I find it amusing how a lot of gentlemen gawk at any suit with a slashed price

MAN’S BEST FRIEND

IMG_3776 Men secretly love the things they can’t control, especially when it works in their favor”. You can anticipate that fact that leather will age with time, but you can never predict the exact shade it will take in regards to discoloration from constant wear and polish. Menswear has more than enough expressed it’s love for “patina”; which is basically the natural discoloration of full grain leather over time of use. The love of patina has escalated to a level where footwear manufactures are able develop artificial patinas courtesy of master artisans straight from the factory to the consumer at a welcomed cost.

CURATED METALS, WITH MR. TJ LETSA

IMG_0257 I love jewelry, but unfortunately it falls under the category of things that come to life on everyone else apart from me. Meet fellow photographer Mr letsa (pronounced le•tcher), I bumped into him the other day and I wasn’t about to let him slide without getting a shot of his well curated metals.Men tend to over do jewelry, yet its quite surprising how Mr. Letsa pulls his off without coming off gaudy. I love the brass and the anchored rope bracelet very much, makes me want to start sacking up bracelets again. I really fancy pinky rings, but for some unknown reason every ring wants to come off my finger after 5 seconds flat.I guess it won’t hurt  sticking  to the appreciation chair till I gather up guts, enjoy.

TAILORED DENIM + DOUBLE BREASTED BAZER

allen coleman creative menswearLast week, I was looking forward to the weekend, just so I could test drive my new and old light wash denim pants. I have been obsessing about scoring a pair for years, yes, for years; my picky self won’t settle for anything less than perfect when it comes to the big bad washed denim. I came across this pair on one of my thrift rendezvous and just by the wash and the little details I knew I had found it. The denim pants were a little generous in the waist and length, but the distressed patch that settled right on my knee and the little coffee stains made it hard for me not to chance my arm on it. After a couple of days I picked the denim pants up from my tailor’s and they were just as I had imagined them, perfect. I love the look of tailored denim pants, they look cleaner with no break and it definitely helps not to walk around like I scored it from the dad jeans section.

DOUBLE BREASTED JACKET + CHINOS

IMG_0315

I never in a million years thought a pair of beige chinos would go on to be one of the most worn items in my wardrobe. I practically lived through high school in a pair, I couldn’t wait to go out into real world and Ditch them for good, little did I know I was going to fall right back in love with them. I have gone on to love  these beige chinos so much my casual wardrobe has pretty much built itself around it. One thing I love about menswear is that the bread crumbs will never lead you astray, the said classics have a way of proving themselves.

CUT OFF JACKETS & HORSE BIT LOAFERS

IMG_8598

Slowly I am finding my step in the casual wear section. For years I have struggled to really settle in with my casual wardrobe, it’s been quite a hassle especially from the kind of the street wear background that i got sucked in at an early age. Lately i find comfort mixing the edge i inherited from street wear into my sartorial wardrobe, personally i think the balance defines me perfectly.

TIE PORN, THOMAS PINK

thomas pink menswear After the solids and the stripes you cant hide from the all over dotted tie. If you your wardrobe is filled with chalk or pinstriped suits the all over dotted ties are your go to. I love pairing mine with both my solid and striped suits but more with the stripes, I just keep my shirts in solid and I am good for the door.

#THETiESTORY, LORO PIANA

loro pianal 4 solid navy blue ties and I am still out here catching the blues. I know you asking yourself, “does he really need to keep buying the same thing over and over again?”. The trick with navy ties is that they always come in a different hue of blue, and if you happen to be one who cares about matching your blue right down to the hue then you understand my obsession with these beauties. Personally I hate pairing navy ties and navy suits with different hues, in my opinion it mars the cohesion of the ensemble, so I try as much as possible to pick up ties that work well with the blues in my wardrobe.
